President Museveni has commended the Office of the Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs for bringing the African-American entrepreneur, Aliaune Thiam aka Akon into the country as an investor.
Museveni made the appreciation while receiving an award that from the Africa-USA Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) that was delivered to him by the Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs, Amb. Abbey Walusimbi.
In February, President Museveni commissioned Walusmbi’s office for a business tour in the US with the aim of pursuing potential investors, which has now yielded results.
During this trip, ACCI awarded Museveni in recognition of his promotion of the Pan-African culture amongst African Americans, being very open with welcoming the African Diaspora to return home to Africa and promoting investment across the African continent.
As such, Amb. Walusimbi presented to the President an award (which he received on his behalf) while on the recent official business tour.
While receiving the award, President Museveni appreciated Amb. Walusimbi for using his office to attract more African Americans to return home.
Walusimbi has revealed that ACCI is set for a trade mission in Uganda come next month in which they will bring a number of investors in the country.
